Most of you know that Debby and I have this passion for collecting new socks and underwear. Our collecting really started a Christmas after Debby's mom passed away. The family used to all get new socks and underwear from 'Grandma Lucy' for Christmas. After she left us, there was a shortage of new socks and underwear in our dresser drawers. We decided to collect new socks and underwear from each family member, in their own sizes, and donate them to a local shelter or non-profit. We did that in honor of 'Grandma Lucy,' at our Christmas gathering. When Facebook started coming out, we posted to tell our friends that they could join in, our annual Christmas collection, by donating new socks and underwear, and placing them in a clothes basket on our front door step. All donations went to various shelters throughout Minnesota. With support from our Pastor at Church, we started an annual 'Undie Sunday' in January, and the new socks and underwear started coming in, by the thousands! In February, we would distribute all the new socks and underwear, to those in need, and then call it a year. Then one March, a nonprofit that we donated to, called us and asked, "do you have any more?" (GULP), we didn't. We knew we were just touching the tip of the iceberg! We had to do something to help! We decided to go all in and start our non-profit called 'The Drawer'... maybe you've heard about it. Check out The Drawer at http://www.thedrawer.org
Anywho...I was thinking about underwear the other day and here is what I came up with. Friends are like underwear...Some crawl up your hind end...Some snap under pressure...Some don't have the strength to hold you up...Some get a little twisted...Some support you.....Some are your favorite....Some are cheap and get bent out of shape....Some are more 'Holy' than others....And some actually do cover your rear when you need them too!! So our friends, like underwear, are always needed, even if they have sat in The Drawer (see what I did there?) and haven't been worn in a while...they always pick up where they last left off. Thanks for being a friend!! Make it a GREAT day!!
